THN/FORB Notice of Product Change: CPR Face Shield

February 19, 2026

Beginning February 19th, 2026, the BCCDC Take Home Naloxone (THN) and Facility Overdose Response Box (FORB) Program is transitioning to a new CPR face shield.

Beginning February 19th, 2026, the BCCDC Take Home Naloxone (THN) and Facility Overdose Response Box (FORB) Program is transitioning to a new CPR face shield. The previous CPR face shield "Quicksaver" has been discontinued. Quicksaver CPR face shields remain safe to use

Action: Sites should adjust their training depending on which mask is being distributed in the kit. Training should include information on how to use the CPR face shield and how to place the valve. Advise clients/staff to check their own kits and to know how to properly use the mask to respond.

For new CPR face shield (shipped Feb 18th, 2026 onwards):

  • The raised oval piece goes in the patient's mouth between their teeth (consistent with the previous Quicksaver face shield).

  • The small raised circular piece goes into the responder's mouth for giving breaths (this shape is different than the previous face shield).

1. Raised oval mouthpiece between patient’s teeth

 2. Small raised circular piece for responders providing breaths

For previous CPR face shield “QUICKSAVER” (shipped prior to Feb 18th, 2026):

  • The raised oval piece goes in the patient's mouth between their teeth.

  • The flat oval piece goes into the responder's mouth for giving breaths

1. Raised oval mouthpiece between patient’s teeth

 2. Flat valve for responder providing breaths
