Progress Update on Expansion of Nasal Naloxone

On February 19, the Ministry of Health announced that access to nasal naloxone will expand through BCCDC’s Take Home Naloxone (THN) program starting April 2026.

This expansion builds on the nasal THN pilot program that launched in 2024.

• Community-based sites that participated in the nasal THN pilot have been contacted directly by BCCDC regarding inventory replenishment.
• Expansion to community pharmacies enrolled in the THN program is currently underway through participating pharmacy distributors.
• Expansion to all other registered THN distribution sites has begun using a phased approach in collaboration with regional health authorities.

BCCDC will continue to share updates with participating THN sites via email as more information becomes available. Updates will also be posted on the Toward the Heart THN site page.

Intramuscular (injectable) naloxone continues to be available through the BCCDC THN and Facility Overdose Response Box (FORB) programs.
